Professional Ethics

AIM: Build the Foreign Language Teachers Ethical principles

PROCEDURE: Building theoretical framework through readings, videos, open discussions, and contextualizing the reality.

INSTRUMENTS: Online books, books, videos, papers.

We start this program asking the students what they think are the Ethical Principles for Teachers. The we proceed building our knowledge on Professional Ethics. Two questions come from the program:

What is professional Ethics for Foreign Language teachers?
What are the Foreign Language Teachers' principles according to our reality?

To answer this questions we move together building the theoretical framework. We read bibliography from different authors like Aristotle, Kant, Jack Richards, Jeremy Harmer among other outstanding authors that help us build knowledge on the topic. We work giving examples and writing essays on our context, watching some movies to reflect on the ethical response of teachers on some practical situations.

Finally, teacher and students build together the Teacher Principles that they consider are the most relevant to our local reality at East Antioquia Region, looking at the reality and needs of our students and teachers.
The final conclusions will be shared with the whole community at our university in a publication. These conclusions may cause some controversies in our English Speaking Community.
